Northeastern Provinces
As the name would suggest, these areas are tucked away to the Northeast, away from the Allied Nation States. These provinces never became part of the union of the ANS, and instead chose to remain as their own separate nations.
Due to their proximity, each province is quite distinct from one another, but shares a deep and rich history intimately entwined together.
And, largely because of Kaedia’s influence, the borders of each have ebbed and flowed over the past couple centuries.

A Closer Look
Generally when people consider the Northeast Provinces, thoughts always linger on Kaedia. Which is important, because it was perhaps Kaedia most of all that led to the creation (and diminishment) of many of these once much larger swaths of land.
After Kaedia was kicked out of what is now the Allied Nation States, the various clans within fought to reclaim what was originally theirs, leading to the establishment of what is known today: Elendil, Marquondil, Parsei, Fincey, and Greldovia.
The centuries that followed allowed each to flourish in marvelous ways, though there are some in Kaedia who still harbor some bitterness.
Long, long before modern history though, much of the Northeastern Provinces belonged to the lands of Old Dail. And many, especially those from Elendil and Marquondil, still recognize this ancient lineage, and sometimes to refer to themselves as Dailysh.
The People and Their Culture

Greldovia, being so far north, established an almost sister-like relationship with North Uhldranya, with multiple kinds of exchange occurring between the two. Fincey and Parsei, who almost always seem at odds with each other, have a love for all things decadent, sweet, and artistic.
Marquondil, which arguably suffered the most under Kaedia’s thumb, has made it a point to reclaim their identity as a nation of philosophy and quiet repose. Elendil, a country that has historically kept to themselves, leads the world at unraveling the mysteries of the stars. And Kaedia, for all her past faults, continues to give birth to Eotera’s greatest sculptures.
Additionally, despite the fact that there hasn’t been a war in centuries, the borders established after Kaedia’s dissolution remain strong. Each province is quite ethnically homogenous, with only 1-3% of the population being from elsewhere.
As such, each province is quite distinct from one another, with each peoples outward features, each country’s dominant architecture, and each country’s cultures usually staying within their bounds. Which makes traveling through these areas anything but boring!
Local Phrase: “You need fire to make steam.”
