Ninlil

Widely regarded as the place where modern people originated from, Ninlil is a vast jungle country that in some ways never moved forward in time.

Though there are a few large-ish metropolitan areas on the coasts of this land, the interior is all untamed jungle, with many areas still yet untouched by modern Eoterans.

It is said that there remain tribes of peoples living within those dense rainforests whose lifestyles remain unchanged from the very beginnings of Eotera.

A Closer Look

Always tribal, yet never quite as territorial as Remtaldi, the people of Ninlil have always considered themselves as one big tribe. One people. One nation. Despite how varied the peoples actually are.

As such, their ways have been the most consistent throughout Eotera’s millenia. Additionally, Ninil has been the most resistant to the world’s globalization efforts over the past couple centuries. The tightly knit family of this country sees outsiders as a pleasant amusement, and don’t take too kindly to changing for change’s sake.

The few cities that do exist are treated much like their original tribal villages. Those who hail from places like the ultra modern Ohckon Prime will be in for quite the shock as they witness what appear to be rope bridges connecting highrise buildings as high up as the 8th floor. Safety is always assured, though visitors frequently express their doubts.

Here, streets are always full of colorful vendors, markets filled with exotic produce, and merchants hauling their goods by hand in rickshaws.

The People and Their Culture

Ninlil Character

Big smiles. And even bigger personalities. That is what visitors first notice about the extremely friendly people of Ninlil. Next, everyone seems to be in incredible shape, as their bodies reflect their nigh ubiquitous energy. Lastly, and this takes some time living there to absorb, people can be incredibly stubborn. Though, in a good-natured way. If that’s possible.

How? For example Ninlil natives pride themselves in their general avoidance of technological convenience, preferring to accomplish tasks with their own power whenever possible. Basically, why drive, when you can walk? So what if it’s nearly 100 miles away? Even construction projects avoid the use of tractors unless absolutely necessary. Some say it’s ridiculous. They say it makes the achievement of their good works all the sweeter.

Besides that, almost all of Ninlil’s people have two-toned hair as it fades towards their ends. Curiously enough, whenever an individual has vitiligo, a skin condition causing splotchy pigmentation, it is seen as a rare and beautiful gift bestowed by the spirits of the jungle.

But the real mystery of the jungles is how children here don’t always look exactly like their parents. Hereditary resemblance has a tendency of being, well, ignored somehow by the genetics of Ninlil’s natives. It’s equal parts fascinating and confounding to all who witness it.

Local Phrase: “Do it for the vines!”
